Smile! for [COD #9] Wreck-It Hero

Ever since watching Sourcefed's The New Movie Thing Show (Yes, it's really called that.) review of Wreck-It Ralph, it confirmed my need to watch it. The movie was great! Adventure, humor, touching story-telling and visuals was all there! I highly recommend it! (:
While going to the mall to see the movies, I wanted to reflect the character's colors into my outfit so this was what came from that. (: My outfit was based off of the colors of Wreck-It Ralph's clothes with the gold belt to top off the color of gold coins that is commonly found in old video games. In order to downplay the outfit because of the bright colors, I wore a dark grey cardigan inside the red pleather jacket.

My photographer, Thomas Liu, was very supportive and accommodating as we snapped a few pictures of what I wore before the movie. So wonderful props to him! Thanks for reading! Smile today everyone! (:

This was an image in front of a recently opened store and I just thought it was so amusing. X3 Scrunchie face!

(Disclaimer: The pictures and character itself definitely do not belong to me.)

Smile! for [Colorful Updates] Scrump Nail Art

Scrump is the doll that Lilo (from Lilo and Stitch) carried around. (: When I first saw Scrump, she was something that reminded me of a Tim Burton character: cute, yet a little goth and potentially creepy. FYI...I LOVE Tim Burton's stuff. Absolutely awesome. Anyways, hope that you enjoy having little Scrump on your nails. (;

Smile! for [Colorful Adventures] Filming Fails and Christmasy Disneyland

So maybe describing Disneyland to be a magical place is being cliche-ly redundant, but being there during while the holiday decorations are up, after the fireworks end and the Sleeping beauty castle is covered in silvery blue glittering lights and their imitation white snow starts fluttering down onto your hands, it's the most magical feeling in the world. Even more so if you have never been in real snow before.

Here are some pictures:

So at Disneyland right now, there's pretty much a deal where you can get a ticket for $99 that's good for two days from now until June, which for a student, isn't a bad deal at all, especially if you love Disneyland. Hehe. P: I'm currently debating about upgrading my ticket to getting an Annual Pass. What do you think?

Anyways, there's a lot of things that I'm planning and one of them is a Closet Sale! I was doing a house cleaning for the past couple days and I've pulled out clothes that I wore in middle school and some old clothes that I just don't think I'll wear anymore. My friend also put in some clothes for the guys, along with some stuffed animals for the kids. (: At the moment, I'm still pulling together everything, but stayed tuned for that! (:

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 6

It's Monday! Which means that it's Disney Princess nails day. (: Today's designer doll is based off of Pocahontas!

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Apply two thin layers of sheer beige color on your nail near the tip of your nails. I used NYC's Mulberry Street.

Step 3: Using a dotting tool, draw vertical little beige lines on the very tip of your nails. This will act as the fringes on Pocahontas' dress. I used NYC's Mulberry Street.

Step 4: Apply a dark blue line within the top third, middle of the nail bed. I used Essie's Mezmerised.

Step 5: Apply a dark blue line from the edges of the middle line to the corner of your nail. I used Essie's Mezmerised.

Step 6: Using a toothpick, use a lavender/periwinkle to draw lines on the corners of the dark blue. This will accent the necklace and make it pop out more. I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury.

Step 7: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

[Colorful Tip] I used a silver to dot in the middle of the blue necklace. I used Confetti's Silver Slippers.

Here's Pocahontas all Disney designer-fied!

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 5

What time is it? Princess nails time! (: This week our focus is going to be on Cinderella inspired nails!

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Create fat lines of periwinkle/lavender on your nails, but not all the way. I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury. This will be the base of Cinderella's dress. By leaving the tip of your nails unpainted, it will serve as the inside white, lace part of Cinderella's dress.

[Colorful Tip] Do not make the lavender very opaque. Try to use a sheer nail polish so that the dress design on your nail looks very layered.

Step 3: Use a pastel light blue to create a curved "V" from the bed of your nails. I used Revlon's Blue Lagoon.

Step 4: Create three straight dark blue lines from the middle of the light blue "V" to the edge of the lavender. I used Essie's Mezmerised.

Step 5: Use a dotting tool (I used a bobby pin) into a silver polish and dot, where the three lines meet in the middle of the "V" and two dots at the ends of the outer dark blue lines. I used Confetti's Silver Slippers. I know that Cinderella's glass slippers aren't silver, but I think silver is the next best thing considering, how the silver I used is so sparkly.

Step 6: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

[Colorful Tip] For the rest of the nails, I would suggest you use either your pastel light blue or your lavender/periwinkle color. Personally, I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury.

That about wraps it up for Cinderella inspired nails!

And here's designer doll Cinderella! (:

Isn't that such a fancy purse? Wow..haha! (:

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 4

It's Disney Princess nails time! (That's a rather long name...haha. ^^") Today's princess nails are inspired by Jasmine!

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Create two bright yellow diagonals on the top half of your nail that's closer to the bed. I used Sally Hansen's Lightning. This will be the base of Jasmine's golden necklace.

Step 3: Create two scalloped shapes with a sheer periwinkle that meet in the middle of your nail on the bottom 1/3 of the nail, near the tip. I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury.

Step 4: Apply a sheer layer of turquoise over the layer of periwinkle. I used Sinful Colors' Mint Apple .

[Colorful Tip] It was really hard for me to find a color that matched Jasmine's attire exactly, so I used sheer colors of periwinkle and turquoise to create the color of her clothes. Light blue and turquoise would work together as well. (:

Step 5: Apply an extremely thin layer of gold on the bright yellow. I used Revlon's Gold Coin.
[Colorful Tip] Wipe both sides of the gold nail polish application brush very thoroughly. Then dot a napkin with the tip because nail polish collects at the tip of the brush even if you wipe off the sides a lot. This way, there won't be a huge cluster of gold on one end of the necklace.

Step 6: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

That's it for Princess Jasmine nails!

Jen from frmheadtotoe did a Jasmine make up tutorial video on her YouTube Channel. Check it out! (: I applied her rendition of Jasmine's make up for my Jasmine costume when I went to Disney's D23 Expo this year! Here is the Jasmine costume that Jen wore in the video, and the same costume that I wore to D23. The costume is called the Arabian Princess costume and it's made by Leg Avenue. Here's designer doll version of Jasmine! I have noticed though that the costume names are exactly the same, but the one that I got has the blue sheer cloth underneath the bra piece, but Jen's doesn't. Here is the costume that I got, and here is the one that Jen has.

And with that, here's the designer doll version of Jasmine! (:

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 3

It's Disney Princess nails time and this week is week 3! Today's princess nails are inspired by Rapunzel from the movie Tangled!

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Apply a dark purple on 1/3 of your nail from the bed. I used Orly's Purple Velvet.

[Colorful Tip] Orly's Purple Velvet comes out matte, for other uses to get a glossy image, use a clear coat afterwards.

Step 3: Using a dotting tool (I used a toothpick), draw vertical pink lines on the purple stripe you've drawn, so that it alternates purple-pink-purple-pink. I used Wet n Wild's Tickled Pink. This pattern will represent Rapunzel's sleeves.

Step 4: Apply lavender or periwinkle to then fill in the rest of your nail. I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury.

Step 5: Using a dotting tool (I used a sewing pin), draw two vertical light pink lines down the lavender/periwinkle part of your nail that separates it to about three equal parts. I used Wet n Wild's Tickled Pink.

[Colorful Tip] Many art enthusiasts use toothpicks and bobby pins to apply details to their nail art designs, but I have found an even smaller tool to apply details, a sewing pin! Sewing pins would be for very, important, but tiny details that are very difficult to apply onto the nail. When using a sewing pin, make sure the very tip of the pin is dipped in polish and lightly draw on the top of the polish layer. If you press too hard, it will cut through the nail polish layer underneath and that isn't flattering. Be careful and don't poke yourself!

Step 6: Using the same dotting tool and color, carefully draw two X's between the light pink vertical lines. These X's are the criss-crossing ribbons that are on Rapunzel's dress

Step 7: Again, using the same dotting tool and color, carefully draw an infinite sign above the two X's. This will be a bow! (:

Step 8: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

[Colorful Tip] For the rest of my nails, I just applied my La Vie's Dolores on them, so that only my thumb was the detailed nail. It's a pastel purpley color. I couldn't find their website nor a website that carried their nail polish, but I had purchased it in a local nail salon for $3.

Here's a close-up on the finished design!

That's it for Rapunzel inspired nails! I hope that maybe after wearing these nails, you'll be able to "at last..see the light"! (; By the way, here's designer doll Rapunzel!

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 2

It's week 2 of Disney Princess nails! Today's princess nails are based off of Snow White! (:

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Apply a navy blue on 2/3 of your nail from the bed. I used Sation's Midnight Blue.

[Sidenote] I couldn't find Sation's main website, but I did find a cheap website for Sation nail polish that I will include in the Colorful Links section.

Step 3: Using a bright yellow, draw two diagonals painted from the rest of the 1/3 of your nail, and then color the rest in. I used Sally Hansen's Lightning. This is going to be the skirt part of Snow White's dress.

Step 4: Use a lavender or periwinkle to then draw two half ovals on the opposite ends of the navy blue. I used Essie's Lapiz of Luxury. This will be the puffy sleeves of Snow White's dress.

Step 5: Using a dotting tool (I used a bobby pin), draw two vertical red lines on each of the puffy sleeves.

Step 6: Using a dotting tool (I used a toothpick), carefully draw two triangles in the middle of where the yellow diagonals meet with the navy blue. I used Confetti's The Red Carpet. This is Snow White's red bow that she usually wears on her ebony hair.

Step 7: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

[Colorful Tip] For the rest of my nails, I just applied my Sally Hansen's Lightning on them, so that only my thumb was the detailed nail. You can try other designs that are Snow White themed as well though! Maybe an apple on a yellow background for one of them? In any case, here's where you may use your creativity to make your nails fit for a princess!

Hope you enjoyed this nail tutorial! Be careful of those poisoned apples! Here is the designer's doll version of Snow White.

She reminds me of little red riding hood for some reason. Haha.

Smile! for [Nail Tutorial] Disney Princess: Week 1

Hello everyone! How was your weekend? I absolutely LOVE Disney. (: The colors, the imagination and the extremely detail oriented designs are just so amazing.

Today I'm introducing that's been on my mind for a few weeks now. The idea came to be because a friend is determined to buy the Disney Princess Designer Doll collection. The collection was introduced at this year's Disney Expo in Anaheim, California, and I must admit, the designers did put a very modern fashion twist to the classic Disney princesses. Take a look for yourself!

(From left to right: Rapunzel from Tangled, Aurora from Sleeping Beauty, Ariel from The Little Mermaid, Snow White from Snow White, Pocahontas from Pocahontas, Jasmine from Aladdin, Belle from Beauty and the Beast, Mulan from Mulan, Cinderella from Cinderella, Tiana from The Princess and the Frog)

Anyways, enough of the introduction..I did some designs for nail art based on these Disney princesses. (: Every week, I will introduce a new nail tutorial based off another princess and maybe even a few other Disney characters. This week I shall be introducing my nail art design version oooof.......

Belle from Beauty and the Beast and here it is! Here are the steps that I used to achieve this nail art.

Step 1: Apply a base coat. If you don't own base coat, then use clear polish because it's better than nothing.

Step 2: Using a pastel yellow, draw three fat vertical lines. I used Revlon's Sunshine Sparkle. This is going to be the ruffly yellow dress on your nails and it should create a scalloped design.

Step 3: Using a more brighter yellow, draw three U-shapes across your nails. I used Sally Hansen's Lightning. This is going to be the brighter yellow ribbon that's near the bottom of Belle's dress.

Step 4: By using a dotting tool (I used a toothpick), dot three golden dots at the tip of where your U-shapes meet. I used Revlon's Gold Coin.

Step 5: Apply a top coat to your nails. If you don't own top coat, then use a clear polish. This seals all the nail polish in and keeps it lasting longer.

All done! (: This nail design would go nice with a Belle Halloween costume. Hope you find your prince, princesses! (;

If you're curious how the Belle designer doll looks, here it is!

She's rather poofy isn't she? Haha. (:

Coinky-dinkly, Jen from frmheadtotoe did a make up tutorial for Belle a few days ago. (: She's such an inspiration! I will add her information in the Colorful Links section below. Even though she got the costume for free, I tried my best to find the cheapest website that had the Belle costume for you all if you wish to be Belle this Halloween or maybe even for a convention. Hope it helps!

[Colorful Tip] Many of Yandy's costumes are under $30 on their website under the Clearance section. Go check it out and maybe you'll find the Halloween costume you'll wear this year. Happy browsing!

That's it for this tutorial!
